NEWPORT BEACH
The City of Newport Beach is located in the coastal center of Orange County. It has approximately 90,000 residents and brings in between 20,000 to 100,000 tourists daily during the hot summer months. The City is composed of several distinct “villages” such as Newport Coast and the charming Balboa Island.
Known for its fine residential areas, modern shopping facilities, strong business community, and quality school system, the City surrounds Newport Bay where more than 9,000 boats of all types are docked within the 21-square-mile harbor area. The bay area and the City’s eight miles of ocean beach offer outstanding fishing, swimming, surfing, and aquatic sports activities.
Annual events such as the Newport Beach Art Exhibition and Sale, the Newport Beach Film Festival, the Balboa Island Art Walk, and the Baroque Music Festival all take place within Newport Beach. Throughout the year, the Newport Beach Public Library presents art exhibits, concerts, guest speakers, and children’s activities that focus on art, music, theatre and literature. The City is also home to the Orange County Museum of Art, NewportHarbor Nautical Museum, and the historic Lido Theater. During the summer, the City Arts Commission sponsors several Shakespeare by the Sea and Concerts in the Parks events.
