      After reading the “review” posted by Roger, I feel it is more of a personal attack against one person rather than a “review” of an evening of dance. It’s sad that someone would use this... Expand

      After reading the “review” posted by Roger, I feel it is more of a personal attack against one person rather than a “review” of an evening of dance. It’s sad that someone would use this forum to express personal feelings against a particular person. The anonymity of postings such as these, gives even the most cowardly of people a voice! Collapse

      Chapman University continues its tradition of pleasant, but non-groundbreaking faculty dance concerts. All the usual players turned in bland choreography, but there were two stand-outs. The revival... Expand

      Chapman University continues its tradition of pleasant, but non-groundbreaking faculty dance concerts. All the usual players turned in bland choreography, but there were two stand-outs. The revival of Bella Lewitzky's piece was just as shocking and exciting as it was when it premiered in the 1970s. The concert closed with a revival of Jennifer Backhaus's signature piece, Disintegration. You can see why it launched her company into the stratosphere and you have to wonder if she's ever equaled or surpassed this engaging work. The low-point of the evening was Alicia Okouichi-Guy's completely typical dance, underlit by Don Guy. The lighting's dim murkiness certainly didn't do this piece any favors. Unfortunately it looked like any other dance you might see in a college concert. Chapman, you're better than this! Collapse
