Guys and Dolls, winner of five 1951 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, set a Broadway Musical standard that is still emulated today. It is a perfectly blended combination of story, characters, lyrics and music. Guys and Dolls premiered the now legendary characters of Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight missionary, who is out to reform the evildoers of Time Square, Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos Sarah on a bet, Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer and Nathan Detroit, Adelaide's devoted fiance, who is desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating craps game.
