Hutchins Consort: International Women's Day Concert
March 8, 2009
The concert features visual artist Nori Green unveiling her new painting of American luthier Carleen Hutchins (namesake of the Hutchins Consort). As a stunning visual component of the evening's performance, Ms. Green will also display several of her other portraits of famous women. This program offers a broad spectrum of the musical influences of women composers, including Hildegaard von Bingam, Fanny Mendelssohn, Nadia Boulanger, Joan Tower (Fanfare for an Uncommon Woman) and a tribute to Anna Bach (Johann's wife). Also, there is a work written by Mexican composer, Consuelo Velazquez when she was 15 years old: the popular song "Besame Mucho!"
