Composed during Dvor?k's visit to the United States, the "New World" Symphony was influenced by both Native American music and African-American plantation songs. Surrounding this popular favorite: other works with American influences including Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," John Williams' "Liberty Fanfare" and Copland's "Lincoln Portrait". Beautifully choreographed to images of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War projected above the stage.
