Because the Night is an exhibition of artworks across disciplines that explores the poetics of the night and the things that happen under the cloak of darkness, such as magic, dreams, sex, romance, war, murder, ritual, flight and fantasies. Liberating us from convention, the night enables us to explore taboo behavior, act on hidden impulses and is a fertile ground for fantasy, inspiration and mayhem. The artworks in this exhibition embody the many different aspects of nighttime. Some show activities that occur in the night, others evoke the mysterious and symbiotic relationship between darkness and light, day and night.
