Based on a 1787 work by Goethe, the "Egmont" Overture pleased even the playwright, who remarked that the composer had expressed his themes of liberty and heroism with a remarkable genius. Then, the world-premiere performance of Richard Danielpour's Piano Concerto, featuring celebrated pianist Jeffrey Biegel, will be a highlight of the season. Finally, Berlioz' "Symphonie fantastique" and its musically enchanting depictions of human responses to romantic love.
