Korean Dance Troupe
November 17, 2010
Dancers from South Korea’s Dankook University will perform a repertoire of traditional Korean dances on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive. The one-night-only performance by the 21-student dance troupe is sponsored by Chancellor Michael V. Drake, M.D., and the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine.
The purpose of the group’s visit is to begin forming a global network for the university, according to Hosung Chang, Dankook’s president. “Our vision is to have our students share knowledge with fellow youths around the world and have our professors communicate with scholars worldwide in the quest for knowledge and a better world for all.”
“We are extremely pleased to present these talented dancers to the Orange County community,” said Joseph S. Lewis III, dean of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. “We hope this is the first of many opportunities to support our common goal for cultural exchange and to further our knowledge and understanding of one another.”
