In addition to his astonishing symphonies and concertos, Beethoven also wrote chamber music that evolved along with his more complex works. His early, decorous, charming compositions — which paid homage to Haydn and Mozart — led inexorably to the trios, quartets and septets with flashes of his coming revolutionary brilliance.
