Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble- We the People: Folk Music from around the World
March 20, 2011
Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble embraces the diversity of folk songs from around the world. First hear Chance’s “Variations on a Korean Folk Tune,” originally called Arirang. Then, discover Khachaturian’s Armenian war song, “Sabre Dance,” the Spanish songs and dance by Mompou, and the ornamental piano of “Ritual Fire Dance” from De Falla’s Spanish ballet. For the finale, head back to grassroots America with Ticheli’s “Amazing Grace” and a tribute to the Blues.
