Mission Preservation Foundation Announces Entertainment for Benefit Gala
 

One of the highlights of the evening is a live concert in the ruins of the Great Stone Church where acclaimed baritone and actor, Rod Gilfry will perform a variety of both standard and classical vocal selections. Gilfry is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton and is a faculty member in voice for the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. He is currently on tour performing in the title role of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and his most recent Grammy nomination was for his 2001 performance in the title role of Messiaen’s opera Saint Francois in Amsterdam. Best known as an opera singer, Gilfry is also an acclaimed recitalist, concert artist and appears frequently in musical theater classics.

Gilfry commented, "It is so important for us to remember and preserve our past and the California Missions are such critical pieces of our state’s history. I am honored to be a part of this year's Romance of the Mission benefit to help preserve Mission San Juan Capistrano and can't wait to fill that historic setting with beautiful music!"

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel again joins the Mission Preservation Foundation as its long-time community partner by providing a one of kind dining experience in the Mission’s Central Courtyard following the concert.
