Gilbert Castellanos Latin Jazz Ensemble

Skilled with impressive dexterity, control, and clarity of expression, trumpet virtuoso Gilbert Castellanos makes music that sounds effortless but moves listeners on a deeply emotional level. Castellanos has been awarded by the San Diego Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Jazz Album (Federal Jazz Project), and Best Jazz. Spin magazine has called Castellanos “San Diego’s best trumpeter.” Recognized as an American Master by DownBeat magazine, Castellanos is one of the nation’s most inventive improvisers in stirring live performances as a member of prominent jazz ensembles and as leader of his own groups.

The ensemble is Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet, Justo Almario on alto sax and flute, Adam Schroeder on baritone sax, Tommy Arcs on congas, Mike Holguin on drums and timbales, and Irving Flores on piano.
