Arts Orange County

Arts Orange County (Arts OC) sparks appreciation, participation and support for arts and arts education throughout Orange County. Established in 1995 as the nonprofit, countywide arts council of Orange County, CA, the council's dedicated staff and Board of Directors support a vision to establish the county as one of the top ten creative communities in the nation. To that end, Arts Orange County serves as a resource and advocate for the arts community, as a catalyst for leadership on arts issues, and as a sponsor of programs and services which enhance public awareness of arts activities and promote the development of the arts and arts education. Arts Orange County has been recognized by the California Arts Council as a model agency, based on the quality of its work, and has served as the official arts agency of the County of Orange since 1995.

	Tell-a-friend Mission San Juan Capistrano Founded in 1776, this restored mission offers a glimpse into Spanish colonial history and its influence on the area's culture. Roam the ten-acre site guided by a digital podcast that tells the stories behind colorful gardens, preserved statues and exhibits that detail how the original inhabitants lived. Don't forget to see Serra's Chapel, the oldest building in California still in use today. Mission Events: Living History Day: Mission San Juan Capistrano's Living History Society members dress in period attire to portray important figures in the Mission's history. Occurs every second Saturday of each month.
	Tell-a-friend Laguna Art Museum The Laguna Art Museum focuses on the cultural heritage of their huge, diverse and powerful state, and on the unique history and accomplishments of Laguna Beach. From the turn of the century through the 1930s, Laguna Beach was home to one of the most significant artists' colonies on the Pacific Coast. Along with its counterpart, the Oakland Museum of California Art in northern California, it has been at the forefront of a trend among California museums to focus on regional art history.
	Tell-a-friend Pacific Symphony Founded in 1978, Pacific Symphony in Orange County, California, is the largest orchestra formed in the United States in the last 40 years. Led by music director Carl St. Clair, the Symphony is recognized as an outstanding orchestra. Pacific Symphony is known for making strides on both the national and international scene as well as in its own burgeoning cultural community.
	Tell-a-friend Bowers Museum of Cultural Art Built in 1931, this museum focuses on artwork from around the world with a permanent collection of notable Central American artifacts, Californian plein-air paintings and other international pieces.
	Tell-a-friend South Coast Repertory For 45 years, South Coast Repertory (SCR) has presented exciting theatre for Southern California audiences. The breadth of plays reflects SCR's artistic commitment to challenging, quality work.
