Nature’s Portrait

Nature’s Portrait

at Anaheim United Methodist Church

Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble will present its spring 2017 concert, Nature’s Portrait, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., at Anaheim United Methodist Church, 1000 South State College Boulevard, Anaheim, CA.

Nature’s Portrait is an intimate portrayal of the music and poetry of the seasons and our environment—from the sky, moon and stars, to the wonders of the earth. The singers evoke the human presence within each scene, comparing and contrasting the poet’s depictions with nature’s reality. It is an evocative concert in which poetry and music interlace in musical artistry.

Featured works include John Rutter’s Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind based upon Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Morten Lauridsen’s beloved Dirait-on based upon the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, and the hauntingly beautiful La Flor de la Miel by Alberto Grau, based upon the poetry of Manuel Felipe Rugeles, journalist, political prisoner and Venezuelan diplomat. In addition, there will be surprises and musical delights sure to please! For tickets and additional information
