This fall workshop series is focused on homestead practices in our modern world. Five beginner level classes focus on kitchen, hobby and landscape skills. Take home items are included in every workshop. Join us for an informative and unique series of workshops to jumpstart your journey into a healthier and more self-reliant lifestyle.

Saturday, October 3: Earthen Pizza Oven

In an effort to reduce energy consumption and enjoy cooking outdoors, learn to build a cobb oven.  Using earthen plaster materials, we will demonstrate an easy model that can be incorporated into your home garden.  Cobb ovens can cook pizza and bread, are made of recycled materials and use wood for energy.

Saturday, November 7: Fermentation Methods

Fermented foods contain probiotics and beneficial bacteria for our bodies. Learn the basics of the fermentation process and make kimchi, pickles and enjoy beverages like kombucha and kefir.

Saturday, November 14: Skincare: Lotions, Salves & Soaps

Natural skin care for those looking for chemical free options.  Learn how to make lotion, skin salve and soaps for you and your family.  Basic recipes will be presented and your creativity can grow from there!

Saturday, December 5: Cheese-Making

Ricotta, goat, mozzarella, greek feta and yogurt. Learn techniques and variables needed to make cheese at home in your kitchen.  These cheeses do not require aging like hard cheeses and can be enjoyed quickly. We will also create a yogurt that is easy and satisfying to incorporate into your diet. Great for homemade holiday gifts.
