      07/26/12	National Dance Day/Susie Hansen’s Salsa Fiesta Muckenthaler Cultural Center National Dance Day/Susie Hansen’s Salsa Fiesta Presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center at Muckenthaler Cultural Center July 26, 2012 Violinist Susie Hansen and her band perform their original style of Afro-Cuban Salsa and Latin Jazz for thousands of people. Popular with jazz aficionados, dancers, and foot-tapping listeners, the band knows how to get the audience moving. As Susie likes to say, “We aim for the feet!” Zoot will teach a salsa dance lesson before the concert so the crowd can dance to every beat.

Hosted by the world’s premier solo mandolin player, Evan Marshall, the show will be a one-of-a-kind ruckus.

      08/23/12	Grupo Falso Baiano Muckenthaler Cultural Center Grupo Falso Baiano Presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center at Muckenthaler Cultural Center August 23, 2012 Grupo Falso Baiano offers a window into the history and diverse culture of Brazil. The group has worked with the Pasadena Pops, Around the World Music Program, Young Audiences of Northern CA, and Youth in Arts, to bring choro (a Brazilian music style, very popular in the 1920s and 1930s) and Brazilian music to students throughout California. This is Zoot’s pick for best new artistic find for 2012 and he is happy to share them with you!

She has long been considered the Queen of California’s Zydeco scene.
      10/25/12	Joe Monti Magic Muckenthaler Cultural Center Joe Monti Magic Presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center at Muckenthaler Cultural Center October 25, 2012 Joe Monti just might be America’s favorite magician. He is featured on TV’s Masters of Illusion and is also the magic producer and senior consultant on A&E’s hit TV show Criss Angel MindFreak–Live! starring Las Vegas headliner, Criss Angel. This event is part of the Fullerton Shadows Festival.
      11/01/12	Dia de los Muertes Festival Muckenthaler Cultural Center Dia de los Muertes Festival Presented by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center at Muckenthaler Cultural Center November 1, 2012 This Day of the Dead celebration includes Mexican and Mexican–American entertainment, Dia De Los Muertes altars, papel picado (paper cut into elaborate designs), calaveras de azucar (sugar skulls), and all the fun of the holiday. Don’t forget to tour Jose Lozano’s exhibit Open Your Eyes/ Abre Los Ojos exhibit honoring the Mexican state of Michoacan.
