Grammy-nominated Israeli mandolinist Avi Avital and the Venice Baroque Orchestra explore the works of Italian composers Vivaldi, Galuppi, Locatelli, and Paisiello for mandolin and strings. Internationally regarded for his performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, and Wigmore Hall, Avi Avital became the first mandolin player to receive a Grammy nomination in the “Best Instrumental Soloist” category for his recording of Avner Dorman’s Mandolin Concerto.
Recognized as one of the premier ensembles devoted to period instrument performance, the Venice Baroque Orchestra is committed to the rediscovery of 17th- and 18th-century masterpieces and has given the modern-day premieres of works by Vivaldi, Cavalli, Boccherini, and Marcello, among others. The orchestra has an extensive discography with the Sony and Deutsche Grammophon labels, for which they have been honored with the Diapason d'Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Echo Award, and the Edison Award.
