Vincenzo, the Duke of Mantua (1562–1612), presided over one of the most artistically opulent courts in all of Europe. Composers like Giaches de Wert, Claudio Monteverdi, and Salamone Rossi worked there, producing some of the most forward looking music of the time. Jouyssance surveys the music of the Mantuan court, presenting sacred and secular music by these late Renaissance masters and also offer a few surprises.
