A Taste of the Spirit

The Festival Singers, led by Artistic Director Gary Toops, presents a program of gospel music, spirituals, and music celebrating the Spirit of America. Included in the repertoire are works of John Rutter, Jester Hairston, William L. Dawson, Bob Chilcott, Joseph Jennings, and Edwin R. Hawkins. Mezzo-soprano Lisa Naulls is the featured guest soloist in this concert.

Ms. Naulls sings with the Los Angeles Chamber Singers and the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers, and has sung with symphony orchestras in Berlin, Hawaii and Vienna. She has been a featured soloist in Verizon Amphitheater, Segerstrom Performing Arts Center, Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall; and has played leading roles in The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, Amahl and The Night Visitors, and Porgy and Bess. She has participated in CD recordings such as Barbra Streisand’s Higher Ground and Larry Farrow’s Star in the East. Following the concert is a reception with delicious desserts.
