Cathy Taister

Cathy Taister became an Orange County dance artist in late 2021 moving from the Detroit area. In Michigan she performed at The Detroit Dance City Festival, The Detroit Fringe Forward Festival, Sidewalk Festival, and many other events. Cathy presents her work both locally and sometimes nationally for a wide variety of audiences. Ms Taister performed at Figment Festival in New York and Chicago, Fringe Festival in Providence, Dancing with Arlington Stars in Arlington and The Kennedy Center Open House in DC. Formerly she directed CathyAndCompany, a modern dance ensemble that existed in Washington DC and later in Detroit. Cathy has performed with several dance companies including Atlas Moving Company, World Dance Focus, Avadance, People Dancing, and HBY Ensemble.

Ms Taister’s dance style features dramatic yet accessible explorations of inspiring topics. Through use of props and quirky choreography, Cathy seeks to create thought provoking work. She creates highly creative contemporary movement for a variety of events. Her mission is to add to vibrancy of Orange County through dance.
