Award-Winning Laguna Beach Artist and Teacher Jacqueline Zimbalist’s talents embrace a Renaissance sensibility, drawing upon her experience in areas as diverse as writing, music, photography, painting, and drawing, to create unique glass art. Kiln-formed glass is the latest step in the evolution of her craft–a return to the medium that first captured her interest when she was a child, learning the rudiments of stained glass cutting techniques and design. “I first became fascinated with glass while watching the glass blowers at the Sawdust Festival, in Laguna Beach. There is a magical quality in the alchemical transformation that occurs with the creation of glass—the shaping of raw, unformed materials into brilliant, delicate, luminescent objects. My art is a combination of science, timing, heat, and, of course, a bit of serendipity. I am always pleasantly surprised by the direction my creations take, at times possessed with a life of their own, beyond what I intend when I start a new piece.” Jacqueline has studied with master glass artisans Roger Thomas, John Williams, Jayne Persico, Lisa Vogt, and Jeri Warhaftig.
