Jennifer Beaudet-Zondervan

Born and raised in Southern California, I’ve always been inspired by the ocean. With a great love of nature and the beauty in simple things, my art reflects my emotions and expresses my feelings about the subject. I feel that inspiration surrounds me, and it is my goal as an artist to bring beauty to the homes of my collectors. I’ve always been an artist; attending college and earning a degree in studio art, but hadn’t found my place until, living in the mountains of Northern California in a small town, I was given a set of oil paints that my mother didn’t want anymore. I fell in love with the rich and juicy colors. Their luster and buttery texture keep me exploring and creating new pieces while discovering myself along the way. I use both a brush, palette knife, and fingers to get the paint down to achieve the look I’m after. I’ve recently rediscovered cold wax and am inspired by the possibilities. These tools create the beautiful nuances and unexpected marks that are so scrumptious. It is my goal for each piece to possess harmony and excitement like a beautifully composed piece of music. I seek in every work, the right balance that will make it come alive to the viewer. My subject matter varies from figurative work, portraits and I’m obsessed with flowers. I don’t necessarily start with a theme, but it emerges as I paint, and I like to leave the final interpretation up to the viewer so that they can develop their own personal connection to it.
