Michael Martinet

Mike Martinet is a long-time resident of the southwest – California, Arizona and Nevada.

He has worked in water-media – brush, airbrush and spray guns – as well as digital graphics.

Currently employed as a web developer, Mike works and creates in Irvine, California.

Artist’s Statement:

“Years ago I would entertain myself during meetings or conference calls by drawing small images in ballpoint pen. It was these tiny  drawings that led me to create Botaday which – when first conceived – stood for ‘A Robot A Day’.

“Over time, the drawings morphed into illustrations of made-up words using vector graphics and digital image manipulation.

“I’ve recently returned to my ballpoint sketching style. These drawings feel like a more pure expression because I’m not always guiding he pen, instead allowing the images to gradually reveal themselves by following the pen around the paper. I then challenge myself to catch the same energy and spontaneity in paintings.”
