Patrice’s artwork is built on a lifetime of collections and “seeing” her surroundings in an unorthodox way. Her work falls under the category of assemblage which is typically created on a defined substrate that consists of three-dimensional elements projecting out of or from the substrate. “Color, recycling and a vivid imagination have always been a part of my soul,” she explains, “surely because it is such an important part of the Orange County lifestyle. Oh, and having been raised by a French mother who salvaged w-a-a-y before it was chic,”

Patrice makes her home in the city of Orange; lives with a language geek, propagates succulents and recently retired from corporate life. “I, too, am now repurposed,” she claims. She is self-taught and entirely too enthusiastic about mundane, found or forgotten objects. The three dimensional elements in her work are drawn together to create the sculptural form and then faux finished to resemble aged metals. The two dimensional, collage backgrounds are composed of old book pages, international waybills, love letters and more. Essentially anything that can be flattened, rearranged and used to tell a story. It requires repeat viewings to sort out the details and understand the nuances of each canvas.

Her works are part of several private collections. Before the pandemic, she taught papermaking at Santiago Community College and was often a guest artist at the mini-Montmartre exhibit for Moulin in Newport Beach, CA.
