I work in oils. My style may be described and “stylized realism.” I do not paint one particular subject. I may be working on portraits one day and then a piece inspired by “The Wizard of Oz”. When I am not working on commissions, I paint what I like. I enjoy painting hands. I was always told that “if you can do hands, you are good.” I am not sure if that’s true but I love hands and faces. I spend a lot of time researching subjects for paintings. Some of my work can be provocative with a message but most of the time, it’s just a composition I find beautiful. I love working with technology and use a drawing tablet to lay out my compositions these days. It is more efficient for me.
I attribute most of my success to learning from others. I believe in engagement through volunteering for a cause in which you believe important. I am involved in a few art-focused organizations as a volunteer. I am the Treasurer for the First Thursdays Art Walk (FTAW) which is a non-profit organization in Laguna Beach.
I have a home studio in Laguna Hills.
