College Volunteer Program

The Huntington Beach Art Center (HBAC) is seeking volunteers!

HBAC is introducing its new volunteer program, designed to provide accredited volunteer opportunities for college students enrolled in the arts, humanities, or education. Effective immediately, HBAC’s College Volunteer Program (CVP) is recruiting volunteers for its annual Summer Art Camp, which is scheduled for June 25 through July 27, 2018.

About the Huntington Beach Art Center:

The Huntington Beach Art Center (HBAC) is a community arts and cultural center serving Huntington Beach and the Southern California region. Located in downtown Huntington Beach, HBAC presents the works of artists producing in all mediums. Through exhibitions, performances, film/video screenings, lectures, and educational programming, the HBAC serves to advance public awareness and understanding of cultural, historic, and contemporary perspectives. The HBAC creates opportunities for local, regional, and national artists and the community to share in a climate of experimentation, education and experience. The Huntington Beach Art Center is a public/private partnership with the City of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Art Center Foundation, a non-profit private corporation.

About Summer Art Camp:

Summer Art Camp is a 4-week art program geared towards children ages 6 to 12. The program offers four themed weeks of art activities, taught by professional artists, structured in half and full day sessions. A variety of visual and performing arts and recreation activities are explored every week.

HBAC College Volunteer Program Details

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled part-time or full-time in an arts, humanities, or education program at a college or university
  • Must complete and pass a Live Scan Background Check
  • Must complete application in its entire
  • Must commit to a minimum of 16 hours of volunteer time (ex. four 4-hour shifts)
  • Must read and sign Volunteer Code of Conduct
  • Must NOT be a current employee of the City of Huntington Beach

Responsibilities:

  • Serve a minimum of 16 hours or four 4-hour shifts between the dates of June 25th and July 27th
  • Assist with preparation of materials
  • Set up studio space
  • Assist instructors with teaching of art projects
  • Assist with supervision of children
  • Work directly with children and assist with projects
  • Breakdown studio space/assist with clean up
