Talk Back Theatre - Call for Play Submissions

Talk Back Theatre produces two staged readings per season, one in the fall and one in the spring. Fall 2017 will be our inaugural reading! We select plays for reading through an open call for submissions twice a year.

Our inaugural submission period is open now through May 1, 2017.

These readings are intended to be the artistic centerpiece of a community conversation around important, pertinent issues, such as LGBTQIA rights, institutionalized racism, immigration, global warming, corporate responsibility, and education equality, just to name a few. Once a play is selected, TBT brings together community leaders and topic experts to support a community conversation around the play and the questions it raises. Each reading features a talkback panel after the performance to help spark the discussion with audience members. In addition to the talkback, there may be other related events and partnerships with community organizations, dependent on the chosen play.

Our staged readings are free to the public, with the option to make a donation of any amount following the performance. 50% of all donations will be donated to a relevant non-profit of the playwright’s choosing. The other 50% will go toward making the next reading a success.
