Project Summary:  The City of Tustin Public Art Committee has initiated a public art project to beautify the city and enhance the life of its citizens.  The current project is a concrete seat/planter wall mural intended to enhance the entrance of the Clifton C. Miller Community Center located in the Tustin Civic Center. The total fee paid to the artist for the completed wall mural is up to $4,500, including artist’s materials.  Photos of the project wall are attached as Exhibit A.

Project Description:  The Tustin Civic Center Wall Mural Public Art Project medium will be left to the imagination of the artist.  The use of color and imagery, literal and abstract, which enhances and inspires the Tustin Civic Center as a destination experience, will be given preference.  All creative themes and designs, and artwork that reflects the past, present and future of Southern California will be considered.  The artist must also submit a brief narrative regarding the proposed durability of the applied outdoor artwork.

Artists must submit a resume, images of their previous work, and a color rendering of the proposed design, medium, material and palette of the wall mural.  The process to select and award an artist the project will include a review and evaluation of proposals by the City of Tustin Public Art Committee comprised of community members appointed by the City Council.  Final approval will be made by the Tustin City Council.  The selected artist will be required to sign a project agreement which will include a provision waiving the artist’s rights to the Visual Artists Rights Act and California Artists Preservation Act.  The completed project shall be the sole property of the City of Tustin.
