Themed “Always on Our Minds”, the Festival, the only event of its kind in California, brings together Elvis fans and tribute artists who emulate the King of Rock and Roll in an all-day tribute near the anniversary of Presley’s death (August 16, 1977.)
Performances will be ongoing throughout the day on the Festival Stage and include these Elvis Tribute Artists: Festival Ambassador Kirk Wall, Scot Bruce, Martin Anthony, James King, Elvis Pham, Dave Hoover, Lloyd Aron Douglas, Brad Carrow, Sean Martin, and Donovan Chavez, and will include songs from his entire music career.
Other activities include the King of Cadillacs Car Show for passenger cars from 1977 and earlier, a new Hound Dog Motorcycle Ride and Show presented by Lifestyle Cycles which will support Patriots and Paws, Elvis Fan Clubs: Jailhouse Rockers of California and the Blue Suede Shoes of California, a few food trucks offering special treats in honor of the King including The Elvis Cupcake by Dreamy Creations: two-time winner of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network, several restaurants on Main Street offering their regular menu items in addition to some Elvis-y bill of fare such as Kaye Kitchen’s Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich.
New this year is a special musical story titled “Sun to Heaven” produced by award winning tribute artist Martin Anthony of Murrieta, which will highlight Presley’s start at Sun Records and songs that highlight the diversity of his musical prowess. Included will be In Memoriam tributes to members of the Elvis fan community who have died. Other Elvis singers will participate in this set sponsored by Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary, part of the Dignity Memorial (Life Well Celebrated) network that owns The Memphis Funeral Home which provided services for Elvis Presley.
Other activities include a Portraits of Elvis Gallery Show & Contest at Black Umbrella Tattoo and Art Gallery, stilt walking Elvis and Priscilla, memorabilia and collectibles, Elvis Bingo and Bake Walk, Abbit the Average Elvis, rockabilly caricature artist and photo booth.
The Festival is produced by Jill Lloyd & Associates, Inc. and presented by the Garden Grove Downtown Business Assn. with other support coming from the Garden Grove Community Foundation and several Main Street Restaurants.
