A Lesson in Jazz with the Donald Brown Trio

Pianist, composer, teacher, band leader, and arranger, jazz pianist Donald Brown is a beam of bright talent on today’s jazz scene. His lyrical, original music has found favor among many masterful contemporary players. The trio is Brown on piano, Donald’s son Kenneth Brown on drums, Mackenzie Leighton on bass, with special guest Tom Harrell on trumpet.

Donald Brown made a name for himself when he replaced James Williams in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1981. He is a top music educator and prolific composer whose compositions have been performed and recorded by a wide variety of top jazz players. He has worked with Diane Reeves, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Donald Byrd, Billy Pierce, and Christian McBride, among others.
