American Song Recital

Recital of newly commissioned works for countertenor, plus beloved standards.

The recital focuses the first half on poetry of Countee Cullen, with new music by H Leslie Adams, Adolphus Hailstork, Lori Laitman, Andre Myers, Maria Thompson Corley, and jazz flutist Nicole M. Mitchell. The second half begins with a new song cycle by Robert Owens, on poetry of Arthur Rimbaud, Rimbaud-Cabaret. The program concludes with songs of Lee Hoiby.
