See hand-painted fine art by Hue Nguyen, the freelance artist behind classic Hoffman California Fabrics’ surfwear designs. This is a benefit show with proceeds going to SmileTrain, which gives free surgeries to repair cleft palates in kids.
Hue Nguyen not only is an artist but also an artventurer, having captured dozens of scenes of his family’s vacations – to Europe, Vietnam, Hawaii, Alaska and more in his oil and gouache paintings. “Art for a Smile,” exhibiting Nov. 12-13 at Nguoi Viet Gallery invites viewers to reminisce about their own favorite getaways as they view the bucolic moments and natural reveries captured in Hue’s fine art.

Hue enjoyed a 30-year career as a textile artist for Hoffman Fabrics in Mission Viejo. His hand-drawn and hand-painted artwork was developed and produced as textiles sold to garment manufacturers for the creation of tropical- and novelty-print shirts. Nguyen contributed to what is referred to as the “authentic Hoffman look” in designs for surf brands like Volcom, Roxy and Stussy.
