Casa Kinetic Dance Series: Casa Cuarteto

Casa Romantica takes center stage with the Luminario Ballet of Los Angeles on May 22 and 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM. General admission is $40 and space is limited.

Casa Romantica patrons will experience dance at the Casa like never before when Luminario Ballet of Los Angeles presents their site specific commissioned piece “Casa Cuarteto.” Set to the music of Villa Lobos, Granados, Albeniz and Velázquez, Luminario Ballet will guide an intimate group of 50 audience members each evening on a physical journey through the Casa, using the historic home as the centerpiece of the performance.

Luminario Ballet is a contemporary ballet company, presenting classic modern dance repertory and aerial dance is comprised of an internationally diverse troupe of dancers based out of Los Angeles. Recent performances include the Miami Dance Festival, Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and on the Brig Pilgrim with the Dana Point Symphony.

"Cutting edge dance choreography is an exciting part of the dance program series, Casa Kinetic” says Berenika Schmitz, Executive Director of Casa Romantica. “Luminario Ballet is at the forefront of the dance world, and we are eager to see their interaction with the Casa".

Inspired by the architecture and grounds of Casa Romantica, Luminario Ballet director and choreographer, Judith FLEX Helle, has created a piece that draws great inspiration through her interpretation of the love felt by San Clemente founder, Ole Hanson for his family and the area and the Spanish songs chosen by Casa Romantica Executive Director Berenika Schmitz. This commission gives Luminario Ballet the opportunity to make these deep emotional feelings visible to the public through the mediums of dance and music – and it is commissions such as this that make Casa Romantica an artistic destination for audience and performers alike.

The site specific commissioned piece will be the first type of dance performance produced at Casa Romantica. Stemming from the experiments of postmodern and avant-garde choreographers of the 1960’s and 1970’s, site specific dance utilizes unconventional performance spaces, making the location just as much as part of the performance as the dancers themselves.
