The annual film debut presented by the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), celebrates the creativity of graduating fashion designers. The show will be streamed on YouTube, Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 5:00-6:30pm PDT.
Spotlighting the work of FIDM students graduating in the Advanced Fashion Design program at the college, more than 100 garments will be presented.
The work of 9 Advanced Fashion students will be featured in the video. The fashion designers-to-be work over 9 months to create the looks that are featured in the FIDM Debut Show.
It is a great honor to be chosen for the Advanced Fashion Design study program since it requires design talent and academic achievement. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree from FIDM, students are chosen each year to participate in this specialized 3rd-year program. Participants are chosen based on overall grade point average, references, portfolio review, talent, skill level and formal interviews with Department Chairs from FIDM…selection is made from hundreds of candidates.

FIDM Museum
FIDM Museum & Galleries has one of the nation’s finest costume collections of more than 15,000 objects, dating from the 18th century to the present, and yearly presents major exhibitions. The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design, featuring Oscar-nominated costumes, has been presented for over a quarter-century in the museum. Because of COVID protocols, the museum is currently closed.
