Films: 140 LBS + Over 140lbs

We’re delighted to collaborate with Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC) to promote Susan Lieu’s theatrical comedy-dramas.

VAALA co-presented the premier of “140LBS” in Little Saigon and now we’re excited to see “Over 140LBS.”

Lieu is a first-generation American born to Vietnamese refugees, whose story focuses on how her mother died from plastic surgery malpractice when Lieu was 11 and her search to know her mother.

May 9 includes “Preserving the Matriarchy: Bridging Intergenerational and Cross-Cultural Tensio\n” with Christine Tran, Managing Director of VAALA, and Philip Nguyen, President of UNVSA.
