HB APA's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

HB APA’s Musical Theatre department will present eight performances of the thrilling tale of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in the Academy’s intimate APA Studio Theater.  Guests are invited to enjoy pre-show enjoy hors d’oeuvres, raffle drawings, and exclusive student performances, with all proceeds benefiting the HB APA Musical Theatre department.

The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful masterpiece tells the infamous tale of an unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th-century London seeking revenge against the judge who framed him. Sophisticated, macabre, visceral, and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd nevertheless has a great sense of fun: mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor.
