Irvine: Dorothea Lange's California 1935-1942

Next at the Great Park Gallery in Irvine is the iconic photography, “Dorothea Lange’s California 1935–1942” featuring her journeys across California documenting the plight of migrant families during the Great Depression.

Lange is considered one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century and helped pioneer the documentary photography movement. Her most notable image, “Migrant Mother,” became a powerful emblem of the suffering, hardship, and perseverance of American families during the depression.
