Dr. Thomas E. Levy, Norma Kershaw Chair in Archaeology of Ancient Israel and Neighboring Lands, University of California, San Diego, will take a cross-cultural perspective and present original fieldwork carried out in India and the Middle East to demonstrate how these enigmatic monumental bronze sculptures from Sanxingdui were created more than 3,000 years ago and how metallurgy functioned early in the ancient world.
