Artwork by Lisa Hisamura
Based on Ovid’s 15-volume work of transformation myths, Metamorphoses is staged in and around a large pool on the stage while the characters enact Zimmerman’s adaptations of Ovid’s tales, juxtaposing the ancient and the contemporary.
Gods and kings, a therapist, a scientist, a nymph, a woman. The timeless characters of Zimmerman’s “Metamorphoses” face change, voluntarily or by circumstance, and immerse you in their ancient and contemporary transformations staged in and around a large pool. Presented by Chapman University’s Department of Theatre and directed by Shinshin Yuder Tsai.
