Muck: Tactile Arts for Kids & Teens

Muck Artist in Residence Erin Schalk presents a Tactile Art Workshop for Kids & Teens.

This workshop will engage in tactile forms of drawing, offering participants an entirely new approach to visual art.  A traditional, foundational visual arts exercise is to create a “blind contour drawing,” which asks students to continually watch the object they are drawing without setting their eyes on their drawing paper.

This workshop will challenge students to engage with blind contour drawing on a new level, experiencing a still life entirely through their senses of touch and smell.  Participants will also learn how to create a raised-line drawing using tactile materials.
