Sculpture Garden @ The Muck

The Muckenthaler (The Muck) is now open with limited timed entries but you can also take a stroll through our NEW outdoor sculpture garden!

NEW!  Papua New Guinea Story Poles on long term loan from The Bowers Museum.  Too large to display indoors, these Poles range from 10-15 feet!  The poles were created by Latmul craftsmen who lived near the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. The poles were both ornamental and practical. They were used to support the ceremonial Latmul men’s homes

“UNTITLED” by Sofia Enriquez .  If you were at Coachella last year, you may recognize Sofía’s signature paisley pattern and bright faces on her mural which graces the entrance to the Muck art studio.  Sofia is a Mexican-American Fine Artist based in the Coachella Valley who creates works that explore her intercultural identity, symbolism, and feminism.

Daniel Miller’s “The Wave” was gifted to The Muck by an art collector who wishes to remain anonymous.  Daniel Miller (1947-1993) was born in Maywood, California and earned recognition as a sculptor by his large scale pieces which he classified as “abstract curvilinear.” In the artist’s words, “I developed my designs simply for the beauty and enjoyment of the forms alone.”

Our first outdoor installation is a contemporary sculpture by Bret Price made of monumental steel. Whether the work is large or small, Bret’s focus is to convey an unexpected sense of movement and balance.
