Additional work to be announced
For the finale to its 50th anniversary season, the Orange County Youth Symphony performs a captivating program, pairing Beethoven’s strikingly powerful Egmont Overture with the intense, yet at times, tender Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture. In an additional work to be announced, the winner of the annual Concerto Competition will have the opportunity to showcase their profound talent.
Founded in 1970, the Orange County Youth Symphony is the official youth orchestra of Orange County. The diverse roster represents student musicians from nearly 50 high school and college programs from San Clemente to Fullerton and beyond. The Orange County Youth Symphony community of young musicians and their families is particularly committed to advancing and sharing the intercultural love of orchestral music. They serve as music ambassadors to each other and to the local schools, districts, and cities. With the support of a small staff and board, the orchestra is energetically led by the music director and conductor, Johannes Müller Stosch.
