Growing up in the Coachella Valley, Terry Masters developed a deep appreciation for the beauty found in the light of the desert. Having spent his youth exploring the desert’s canyons and vistas, his mastery of his subject matter has produced strikingly-shaped, richly-hued artworks with suggestive, almost minimal brushwork.
About Terry Masters
Terry Masters is an award-winning plein air painter and a California Art Club (CAC) Signature Artist. The top tier of CAC membership, Signature Artists have been elected to this status by the CAC Board of Directors and a panel of their peers. Among their ranks are some of the top artists in the country who are well-established in their careers, have been featured in leading art publications, exhibited their work extensively, and won major awards at a national level.
Notable accomplishments of Terry Masters include receiving the “Artist’s Choice” award at the Telluride Plein Air Festival, and being named the 1st Place Winner in Balboa Island Huse Gallery Plein Air Invitational in August 2011.
Terry Masters is a co-founder of California Art Club’s desert chapter. He is also an artist member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and owner of Desert Painter Studio Gallery in Downtown Palm Springs.
Masters was raised in the Coachella Valley and has lived in Palm Springs for over 50 years. He has taught painting classes at the Desert Art Center, The Palm Springs Art Museum, and at many other workshops in California.
