Renowned American Sculptor David Simon

Laguna College of Art and Design, one of the top representational art schools in the country, announced Sculptor David Simon will speak about his work and share the driving force behind his imagery and masterful technique.

"As we build one of the finest figurative sculpture programs in the country, we are offering an ongoing lecture series of master sculptors to speak about their work to students, faculty, and our growing community," said Fine Art Chair Hope Railey. "David is a young, dynamic sculptor whose work has been seen in popular film as well as museums and collections around the world."

Simon has taught sculpture for more than 15 years in New York and Los Angeles as well as an active career in the film industry. In 1997 and 1998, he oversaw the Leonardo da Vinci Horse project, a monumental, twenty-four foot high bronze sculpture that was presented to Italy by America’s Leonardo da Vinci Society.

He is also well known for creating concept maquettes and sculpting full scale animatronic heads for the character “Alexander” (the goat) in Where The Wild Things Are, creating special makeup effects for “Abe Sapian” in Hellboy II, creating special makeup effects for The Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, and creating concept maquettes for The Watchmen.
