For the first regular production of its 55th season Costa Mesa Playhouse presents the hilarious spoof of Alfred Hitchcock’s spy thriller “The 39 Steps,” running August 23-September 15, 2019.
Mix a Hitchcock film masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have the riotous whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. The show hurtles a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde from a London music hall north by northwest to Scotland’s most remote highlands. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies? Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. An additional performance has been added on Thursday September 5 at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $22 general, $20 for students and seniors.
The first performance on August 23 is a preview, which all seats are “pay what you can,” with a $5 suggested minimum. Saturday, August 24, is the official opening night Gala, which includes a catered post-show reception. Gala tickets are $25 general and $23 for seniors and student.
