The Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light Orchestra Story: A Rockumentary Concert Benefiting Music Media Entertainment Technology Students

The Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts (HB APA) will present three performances by its Popular Music and Media students called The Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light Orchestra Story.  This is a great chance to make a difference in the lives of APA’s pop-rock high school music program called MMET. Please arrive early to bid on auction items and show some love by snapping up raffle tickets which will benefit this fine group of young people.

APA is located of the campus of Huntington Beach High School and includes students attending high schools throughout the HBUHSD. APA’s innovative MMET Program stands for “Music Media Entertainment Technology”. MMET offers classes for students to participate in all aspects of film and television production along with popular music. They become familiar with diverse roles in film production teams and participate in the myriad of tasks associated with live TV events. Students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and are encouraged to work on original film productions. The Pop-Music students gain the necessary knowledge to compose, record, and perform original music. Creativity and innovation are encouraged through the integration of digital tools for music production and promotion. Students will also understand the historic and cultural connection that music plays in our current world.

The Electric Light Orchestra was one of the biggest-selling bands of the 70’s with dozens of hits and an instantly recognizable sound that melded pop, rock, and classical music styles, but who was behind this band? Where did they come from, and where did they go? We’ll learn about all that and more as MMET celebrates over five decades of unforgettable music from the mind of Jeff Lynne in this “Rockumentary-style” rockin’ show!
