Children can do their part at Pretend City by participating in the following peaceful activities:
- Smart Art: Peace Doves > Join us in the Art studio to make a white peace dove using white paint and your very own handprint. Children will also practice their writing and vocabulary skills to write the word peace. This is a great opportunity to talk to your child about what peace means to them.
- Sensational Story Time (11:30am): It’s Okay to Be Different > This colorful story by Todd Parr is a great book about embracing the differences and unique qualities in others. Each child will make a wish of their own for world peace and add it to our Wish for the World Wall in Orange Plaza!
- Music & Movement (3:30pm): We are the World > Join us in Orange Plaza as we join hands for a peace circle and learn a song about peace and diversity.
- Headin’ Home Parade (4:50pm): It’s a Small World > Today’s Headin’ Home Parade will feature a well-known song about world peace!
Grown-up Tip: Create a peaceful corner in your home for you and your children to enjoy. This space can be used for meditation, prayers, reading, or calming down. Put art, books, flowers, and other peaceful items in this space that will help to create a feeling of peace and calm for your entire family. This would be a great alternative to time-out when your children are experiencing overwhelming feelings of anger and frustration.
