 What role did color play in ancient Egyptian art? Dr. Lorelei Corcoran, Professor of Art History and Director of the Institute of Egyptian Art & Archaeology, University of Memphis, explores of the functional uses of color in Egyptian art, from the use of line to define form to the use of color to convey corporeality and, finally, a look at the addition of seemingly superfluous surface treatments that were, nevertheless, essential in order to imbue their crafted images with a sense of living
