TCHAIKOVSKY: Romeo and Juliet
This third concert in our Family series features the Colburn Orchestra, Anaheim Ballet, and a guest host exploring the concepts of rhythm, music and dance and their unity on stage through movement—all in a friendly, family focused one-hour program.
Founded in 1970, the Philharmonic Society’s Orange County Youth Symphony is the official youth orchestra of Orange County. The diverse roster represents student musicians from nearly 50 high school and college programs from San Clemente to Fullerton and beyond. The Youth Symphony has traveled the world representing Orange County’s best young adult musicians in performances in Austria, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and at the United Nations and Carnegie Hall. The Youth Symphony’s many prestigious performances have included US and West Coast premiers by composers such as Mark-Anthony Turnage and Kurt Schwetsik, and a season-long project with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, culminating in a documentary entitled Beethoven’s Ninth: Journey to Joy that was selected by PBS SoCal for multiple broadcasts.

The company also performs for thousand of students annually at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts and at public schools throughout Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange counties.
