Esencia Flamenca Dance Company was founded in the year 2000. EFDC at first only featured professional dancers and performed in many venues throughout Southern California.  Sarah found that she wanted to share the art of Flamenco with the community. So in the year 2005 EFDC became a nonprofit and focused on teaching , providing experiences and education for the Flamenco student including workshops and performances. After the recession, 2009 Sarah decided that being a non profit was not the best route for EFDC and transferred its nonprofit status to Vida Flamenca.

EFDC currently is a dance school that trains students in 5 month sessions. At the end of each session students get the opportunity to perform in a recital with a very professional edge.  EFDC is known for its recitals that are entertaining and engaging. In fact, many people claim that they are not recitals but are professional performances.
